Rice Krispie buns are a must at any birthday party in our house. Delicious and so simple to make. My kids love making these themselves, the only challenge is to not to lick the spoon until the end! It is harder than it sounds!
The recipe is simple, all you have to do is remember the ratio of 2 times the amount of chocolate to rice krispies so 200g chocolate to 100g rice krispies.
You can add marshmallows or smarties into the mix if you wish but we like to leave ours plain.
Make sure to use a good quality milk chocolate as they finished buns really benefit. Don’t use cooking chocolate as the quality really isn’t good enough.
I always melt my chocolate in the microwave on a low heat but you can also melt it in a bowl over a saucepan of hot water. When using the microwave put it on for a minute at a time and stir each time.
You will need to make these a few hours in advance of the party as the chocolate needs to set. You can also make them the evening before. I put them in a cool place in the room but you can put them in the fridge if it is a warm day or you need them to set quicker.
